NON-IP ATTORNEY NEEDING IP HELP?
We can help you in at least three ways. First, if you have an IP litigation matter and need technical support or other assistance, we can joint venture the case with you. We have significant experience assisting non-patent lawyers with claim construction and Markman briefing/hearings. Second, we can handle IP litigation and transactional matters for your clients Third, for non-large firm practitioners, we can help you compete by allowing you to offer a broader range of quality services to your clients that they might otherwise seek from large firms or your competitors. We have joint ventured significant IP litigation either by formally appearing as co-counsel or by assisting in the background.
We also have assisted corporate lawyers with advising on specific IP provisions of agreements and by taking over patent, trademark, and copyright registration and prosecution. Finally, we offer a state-bar approved CLE on how to handle IP matters. Please contact Kate Greenhaw, our marketing
director, to schedule a CLE presentation.
In making your decision as to whom to refer your client, please consider our policies on referrals. We recognize that the practice of law is a referral-based business. A significant portion of our IP business is based on referrals from non-IP practitioners. Therefore , we make the following two promises to all referring lawyers. First, we will not poach your clients under any circumstances. If for some reason your client wishes to engage us for work that conflicts with your relationship with the client, we will simply decline that requested engagement. Second, we will provide exemplary service to your client, which will reflect positively on you.
